If ever there was a telling time in history, this is it. People are coming out in force, to speak up, they're mad as hell and they're not gonna take it anymore! But what are they mad about, and what is it they're trying to say? Well, they don't know.

Tens of thousand of lonely people who feel the need to be part of something... well something, have or will be descending on cities and even a few small towns across the globe. They're mad, they want change, and I'm fairly sure they got served cold coffee at the diner this morning. That's the only way I seem to rationalize their behavior.

I went in search of a cause. SOMETHING to chew on. A fellow Newsviner posted 2 links in one of their articles, Occupy Wall St. and Occupy Together.

Occupy Wall St was a dead end unless you count irreational complaints, a 'cause'. One article posted this...

The American Dream has been stolen from the world. Workers are told that they aren't allowed health care, shelter, food. Students are told that they aren't allowed jobs, and that they will be in debt for the rest of their lives, unable to declare bankruptcy. The 1% has destroyed this nation and its values through their greed. The 1% has stolen this world. We will not allow this to occur.

Funny, I've been working my entire adult life and was never told I wan't allowed health care, food or shelter. Sure, some jobs didn't prove health insurance, but no told me I wasn't allowed. Neither was I ever told I wasn't ALLOWED a job. And if you look at the last line, how are they not going to allow something to occur they claim has already occured?

In addition, another headline posted on the site that same day read this, "This Site Has Nothing To Do With Us" and linked to the Occupy Party.

If Occupy Wall St was a dead end in finding some sort of organizational platform, the Occupy Party webside was a black hole. The headline reads "We are the 99% protesting the 1% that own 50% of everything".

No real substance there. You're mad someone else owns things you don't.

So I head over to Occupy Together because well, it sounds fairly inviting. Of course I'm not really looking for companionship, I'm trying to find out what it is these people stand for other than occupying themselves with something to do. What I found was this.

We have no agenda other than to provide people with information about the events and actions happening in their area in solidarity and support of those that currently Occupy Wall St. Our political and social beliefs will remain neutral for this cause; this is not about us, this is about the movement. The only thing we will promote openly is peaceful demonstrations.

That's it in a nutshell. No agenda. The only they promote is demonstrating. We are here to demonstrate. We are here to demonstrate nothing, demonstrate everything we are demonstrating that we have nothing better to do and we're pissed off.

It's starting to feel like the college campus of one of my all time favorite movies, PCU. But in the end of PCU they actually came up with a noble cause and actually found 'solidarity' that 'we're not gonna protest'.

We're NOT gonna protest!

It'd odd that one site in support of another but 'remains neutral' in the as yet to be mentioned issues. The other has a headline stating it has nothing to do with yet another organization while ALL of them call for solidarity in their cause(?).

As always, COH please.

Maybe they should get corporate sponsorship like the tea party. Then they can have a cohesive message like taking the power from the evil government and giving it to banks and corporations.

But Mike..In your short little article, you made it about you. It's a thing conservatives have been doing since Buckley. This is bigger than I, me, mine.

Of course I made it about me, this is an OPINION piece. It's MY opinion, I own it, no one else.

What I did was include a little of MY experience which I am sure others have shared similar experiences as I lead a rather unexceptional life. As for the rest, counter it if you can, or go write an article of your own.

yes why its bigger then you understand Mike

because it makes perfect sense to protest against capitalism and corporate greed while we continue to participate in capitalism and corporate greed. We sleep in the park in our sleeping bags made by someone who participates in capitalism and corporate greed, we get hungry and pull out or little plastic atm card we go to the atm punch in our pin number agree to pay the fee take out some money to get some food all the while still participating in capitalism and corporate greed. Then we march our selves over to the local diner, fast food joint roach coach and buy food all the while still continuing to participate in capitalism and corporate greed. meanwhile lets all get together and protest about the things we continue to participate in.

This reminds me of the fat guy suing white castle over the size of their booths while he continues to shovel white castle into his stomach.

Odd, I always consider Whiteys diet burgers because they're so small and pass through way to quick to get fat! /sarc

But you're absolutely right and don't forget that they coordinated their efforts using their corporate produced smart phones and web sites.

The fact is there's no real clear message here because many of these people don't even understand what they're protesting other than other people have more stuff than they do. They have that because they filled a need or want and WE are the ones who wanted this crap to begin with.

Mike you are correct in that the message is blurred. I think really they are protesting in part what led to the 2008 economic collapse a corrupt financial system. But what I find interesting is that this really isn't a one party protest or at least it is starting to develop into a protest that is crossing party lines. If that happens and they more clearly define their protest, it might have a real bite.

Mike if you have the opportunity watch "Inside Job". I believe that is what people are protesting. And if that is the case I don't understand why we all can't get behind this.

      Have a good weekend.

I haven't seen much on crossing party lines but much of the problem is that it isn't a singular issue, it's a lallapalooza of protests minus the entertainment.

Fair point but the problem remain is that people still don't really know what they're getting behind. This crisis wasn't ALL about deregulation and corporate greed.

But my opinion on why the ecomomy went south isn't what this is about. It's more of a light hearted illustration of the fact that the protest organizers don't even have a platform or a cause which really make them seem like they're just out to make a bunch of noise for the sake of making noise and any message they might have is secondary.

Looks like a societal unraveling to me. You know why they can't be honest about what they want? Because they want the same thing they are protesting against and they can't offer a better way to get it.

Here is what the Occupy Wall Street movement wants per the first collective statement from the New York General Assembly:

Keith Olbermann Read Occupy Wall Street statement

Trust and believe that strategies are being developed to start addressing these issues.

So in effect what they are protesting is human nature. And their solution is to give them stuff that they want.

I really think these guys have the makings of a religious cult.

The financial click of America (and probably other countries as well) has a vocabulary all their own. It's no surprise that there are but a few involved that can carry a conversation on the topic and put into words their frustrations. I would not expect many at all to be able to effectively communicate what they are coming together for.

With that said, I do support the protests. America desperately needs something, someone to believe in. We thought we had this with President Obama, yet he has encountered so many brick walls that his voice of change seems lost in the wind. It is my opinion that the current system has miserably failed the people of this country, and it is most definitely time for us all to clean the cobwebs out of our attics, save what is useful or worthy, and be rid of what is not. The financial ballfield, I believe, is a very good place to start.
