It's easy at first to feel sympathetic for the couple and a little animosity at the reactions of the police but then I read 105mph!
I certainly understand as a father of the will to save your child and might have actually done the same regarding the situation but would also expect the same consequences. In reality, it is a very selfish act putting lives of others in danger for the mere chance at saving another.
There is a reason that ambulances don't travel at these high rates of speed, because saving one life, is not worth risking countless more. This couple should be appreciative that their child made it and $1000 is not too high a price for what they did.

They shouldn't have been fined that much and if you read the above statement it says his wife would have died to. so you have to imagine that isn't all that bad. But at the same time that's your life right there that's about to die so $1000 is not that big of a chunk to pay to insure your family's future.
Mike, I agree with you. I'm glad their child made it, but I can tell you that the ambulance would've gotten him there, in about the same time (if not a little later) and they wouldn't have jeopardized anyone's life on the road, either. That's what those handy sirens on an ambulance are for. :)
